  • Job Summary:

    This is a professional position that will play a key role in assisting child protective investigators and supervisors with safety practice and support. Responsible for working closely with child protective investigators and supervisors ensuring children and families have access to services and supports in a trauma sensitive and least restrictive setting necessary to address risk factors.

  • Essential Functions:

    • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with HFC internal and external customers to include child protective investigators, supervisors and Children’s Legal Services
    • Provide consultation on in-home safety and the impact of trauma
    • Provide support to child protective investigators and supervisors when children and families are at risk of removal using critical thinking and problem solving skills in a fast paced environment
    • Develop and maintain a high level of expertise in understanding the impacts of complex developmental trauma
    • Maintain in depth knowledge of services and resources available to children and families
    • Track and trend work outcomes
    • Provide on call, after hours and weekend support on a rotational basis
    • Train child protective investigators and supervisors on the role of the safety and trauma consultant
    • Attend necessary staffings and meetings as needed
    • Perform special projects as assigned

  • Qualifications Required:

    Bachelors degree in Social work or related field.  Minimum of two years of experience  working with children and families.  High level of expertise in Safety Practice Methodology to include family functioning assessement, safety planning and caregiver protective capacitites. High level of expertise in trauma informed care.

  • Qualifications Preferred:

    Experience working in protective investigations/protective services preferred. Child welfare certification preferred.
