  • Job Summary:

    This position works with utilizing mobility mapping and family finding techniques to conduct extensive searches to locate and engage relative and non-relatives in order to build relational permanence for youth in foster care. This position is a very self-driven position that requires the employee to drive outcomes autonomously in an effort to increase the number of family connections and placement options as well as decreasing the quantity of licensed placements in Circuit 10 for children, youth and young adults.

  • Essential Functions:

    • Establish and maintain positive, trauma-informed working relationship with internal and external customers
    • Conduct extensive/advanced searches through case mining, mobility mapping, internet searches and cold calls to locate adult relatives and fictive kin
    • Meet with youth and build a rapport/connection with youth in order to facilitate the discussion of the youth’s history and possible friends and family
    • Maintain a tracking system to provide real-time information on the progress of family finding efforts and provide regular reporting for HFC leadership
    • Attend and participate in family finding group decision-making which may include conducting a multidisciplinary meeting with all parties involved and prospective family members or fictive kin
    • Attend or lead staffings as needed to include residential stepdown staffings
    • Regularly review and identify any changes to Florida Statutes, Department of Children & Families operational procedures, administrative rules and policies 
    • Ensure participants are aware of changes, confidentiality and HIPAA and identify potential problems related to case specifics
    • Maintain open communication with case managers, life coaches and their supervisors to ensure all opportunities to find a relative or non-relative caregiver is exhausted
    • Perform special projects as assigned

  • Qualifications Required:

    Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field and a minimum of two years of experience working with children and families required.

  • Qualifications Preferred:

    Experience working with teenagers in foster care, knowledge of the child welfare system, customer service and child welfare certification preferred.
