Adoption Day: The Scott-Wilson Family Party of 3

Congratulations to Jack and the Scott-Wilson Family on your Adoption Day! You can't help but have happy tears after reading this letter!

"We officially started this journey in January of 2023. All of the preparations Heartland provided helped us not only be prepared but also opened our hearts and minds in the process. We truly feel it all benefited not only us but helped us prepare our extended family too.

Then came the family picnic of April 2023. We still were very open to the process and thanks to all the training we had gone through, we were very open to any child regardless of age, gender, race, etc. At the picnic all of that changed. From the moment we met Jack at the family picnic, we knew from that moment he was what has been missing. Every moment from that point forward was dedicated towards having him complete our family.

While our hearts already knew this to be true, on June 19, 2024, we officially and legally became a family! This day was even more special being Jeff and mine 20th wedding anniversary plus it being the Juneteenth Holiday. So many people helped bring us together and we are so very thankful!

Thinking back to our day, it was filled with so many happy tears & laughter. However, two comments stood out to me the most. From his case manager, Armando, speaking of how Jack has gone from failing in school and giving up on life, to finding his inner light again and now having his light be brighter than ever. And his GAL Laurie speaking of how Jack used to be just barely existing to now being a shining star with such energy and love to share with the world. If it wasn’t for all involved, Jack may have had a very different future and now we are so blessed to be a family with him.

It all started with you guys at Heartland for Children! You helped make this happen and help so many other children find their forever homes too. We are eternally grateful to you all and know that we will definitely remain part of the Heartland family as we (including Jack) wish to continue to help children in need.

Thank you!!!!
