  • Job Summary:

     This is a professional position responsible for building connections, donor relations, resource development, increasing awareness through presentations and trainings, and promoting initiatives with individuals, businesses, faith based communities, partner agencies, local leadership and donors within Polk, Highlands and Hardee counties. This role requires a high level of independence, initiative, accountability, excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of community dynamics and the ability to develop strategies to engage and build trust with various stakeholders.

  • Essential Functions:

    • Establish and maintain positive working relationship with HFC internal and external customers
    • Engage and establish rapport with individuals, businesses, faith-based organizations, partner agencies, local leadership, donors and other stakeholders on HFC initiatives to help meet agency goals and objectives
    • Participate and complete train the trainer courses to deliver specific training curriculums
    • Educate, promote and deliver child safety and child abuse prevention trainings to local businesses, faith-based organizations, schools, community service groups and other stakeholders.
    • Enlisting the cooperation of businesses, community organizations and sponsors to support projects
    • Raise public awareness on issues relevant to the community and specifically child abuse prevention and foster/adoption
    • Prepare data and reports as required
    • Track and report on all donor relations activities, including cash and in-kind donations and volunteer hours  
    • Recruit, train and support community volunteers to assist with special projects
    • Identify and collaborate with community providers for resource development that aligns with HFC’s mission
    • Plan, attend and coordinate meetings and special events as needed
    • Formulate plans and priorities, in cooperation with other staff members and community providers
    • Coordinate activities associated with Child Abuse Prevention Month, Rudolph Round up Holiday Toy Drive, Back to School, Heartland Youth Village, Child Welfare Provider Fair, and other events.
    • Participate and provide input and updates to the Child Abuse Prevention and Permanency (CAPP) meetings
    • Requires flexibility in schedule to meet department needs, including occasional evening and weekend hours
    • Assist and provide back-up coverage for other department positions as needed
    • Perform special projects as assigned

  • Qualifications Required:

    • Bachelors degree in Social Services, Public Relations, Marketing, Education, Training or related field and two years of professional experience in the related field required.

  • Qualifications Preferred:

    Experience in child welfare or child abuse prevention preferred.
