  • Job Summary:

    This is a Director position that is responsible for the daily management of the Community Relations & Systems Integration Department. Responsibilities include overseeing housing services, education support for children/youth in the child welfare system, donor relations, fundraising, child abuse prevention initiatives, community relations with local school boards, housing coalitions, Aunt Bertha, the faith based community and other community providers through communication, coordination and collaboration with all stakeholders. 

  • Essential Functions:

    • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with Heartland for Children’s internal and external customers
    • Participates and presents updates during meetings and workgroups such as HFC Management Meetings, System of Care, Behavioral Health Leadership, Prevention, Housing, Education and other requested meetings
    • Supervises Community Relations and Systems Integration team members
    • Oversees and manages housing project with Homeless Coalition of Polk County
    • Ensures that the School Board Working Agreements are in good standing and executed
    • Serves as Liaison between the Child Welfare system and local School Boards in Polk, Highlands and Hardee Counties.
    • Plans and coordinates annual trainings for appropriate School Board employees
    • Plans, coordinates and facilitates trainings for foster parents, adoptive parents and child welfare professionals on school and prevention related topics
    • Works with bridging relationships and resources with community partners
    • Plans and leads annual Rudolph Round-up Holiday toy drive and other fundraising events.
    • Directs, coordinates and supports the Child Abuse Prevention Month Campaign and activities in April
    • Provides leadership to the Circuit 10 Child Abuse Prevention and Permanency Taskforce
    • Provides oversight, guidance and support to HFC Faith Based initiatives
    • Leads the planning and support of current Positive Community Norms Initiative
    • Prepares reports and updates for the State of Florida Five (5) Year Child Abuse Prevention Plan
    • Represents HFC at community meetings to enhance community partnerships
    • Participates in grant writing, directs and manages assigned grants including reporting and financial tracking
    • Prepares data reports and annual reports on the Community Relations initiatives and activities
    • Provides coverage as needed and requested from Chief Community Relations Officer
    • Perform special projects as assigned

  • Qualifications Required:

    Bachelors degree in Social Services, Public Relations, Marketing, Education, Training or related field and a minimum of three to five years of professional experience in the related field & supervisory experience required.

  • Qualifications Preferred:

    Extensive experience in child welfare and/or child abuse prevention preferred.
