  • Job Summary:

    This is a professional position responsible for the development and management of a new local caregiver support program, which is referenced as the Guardianship Assistance Program. This position will hire, manage and train a team of Caregiver Support Specialists and Kinship Navigators that will assist in preparing caregivers for child specific licensing and offering services and supports to relatives and fictive kin who make a long term commitment to children in the foster care system. This professional position will be responsible for child specific Level 1 Licensing in Circuit 10. This will include secondary reviews of the licensing packets prior to submission; planning and implementing various tracking systems to record unit specific data; monitoring risk review processes; facilitating trainings and meetings with caregivers to build skills and to address concerns; coordinating and participation in on site DCF licensing reviews; participating in institutional investigations; and ensuring benefits and support services for all local caregivers are offered.

  • Essential Functions:

    • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with HFC providers and customers
    • Hire, train, support and coach all new staff (caregiver support and kinship navigator) as part of the new caregiver support team
    • Assist in the development of policies and processes for the C-10 caregiver support program
    • Track potential caregivers and their progress in becoming licensed
    • Assign and track licensing home studies to caregiver support staff for timely submission
    • Track and monitor all caregivers working on having their homes licensed
    • Conduct partnership and support meetings with caregivers, if applicable
    • Complete documentation as required within the specified time frames
    • Cooperate and assist in the investigation of allegations of abuse and neglect involving caregivers
    • Complete special projects as assigned within time frames
    • Assist in the development of tracking systems and databases
    • Assess and provide analysis of licensing processes and practices
    • Develop and support of ongoing caregiver support activities
    • Assist with on-call as needed
    • Perform special projects as assigned

  • Qualifications Required:

    Bachelors degree in Social Services, Public Relations, Marketing, Education, Training or related field and a minimum of three to five of professional experience required. 

  • Qualifications Preferred:

    Experience in child welfare or child abuse prevention preferred.
